Bayside Anglers Group Ltd.
Proudly presents
15th Annual Little Neck Bay Beach Clean-Up
“Bayside Anglers Waterfront Day”
10 AM on Sunday, April 19, 2009
( Rain or Shine)
----We welcome all volunteers and their families to help us in the Spring-cleaning of our precious shoreline. To celebrate our 15th year of clean-ups, we are expanding this project to cover the nearly 3 mile stretch of public shoreline here in Bayside. Through the support of the NYC Dept. of Parks, Partnership for Parks and the Dept. of Sanitation, bags, gloves, rakes and shovels are provided for this event. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own basic tools (work gloves, paper grabber/ez-reachers) and to wear work boots or similar footwear with traction to help prevent slipping on rocks. Participants are well cared for with food and drink. To make things interesting, all participants are entered for a chance to win raffle prizes provided courtesy of our sponsors. Join us and help make a difference that you can see today and for the rest of the season.

A few fishing buddies established the Bayside Anglers Group Ltd. in 1994. In 1995 we became incorporated and are now a nonprofit organization/fishing club. Our goal is to promote safe, effective, and environmentally sound recreational fishing practices. We share our knowledge to become better fisherman and offer our expertise to the public through various community outreach events.
The club sponsors events all year round for the Children and Families in the community. Every April, with the cooperation of the NYS Dept. of Conservation and the NYC Parks Dept., we hold our annual Beach Cleanup. We spend the day cleaning a beach on Little Neck Bay. Food and beverages are supplied for all to enjoy, and we encourage nonmembers and prospective members to pitch in with us. To spice up this event we hold a raffle drawing for a topnotch rod and reel combo. In 1996, our results at this event earned us first prize in a national waterfront cleanup contest sponsored by Berkley Co., the well-respected tackle manufacturer. Other BAG sponsors include; Super Hawk, Pure Fishing, Frabill, Cortland Line Co, Top Brass, Plano Molding Co. TTI - Blakemore Fishing Group (Diachi Hooks), and The Swedish Princess.
Other events sponsored or supported by the Bayside Anglers include; BAG Annual Family Fishing Festival, BAG Annual BBQ, BAGAnnual Snapper Derby, DEC Long Island City, Gantry Plaza Fishing Pier Children's Fishing Clinic, and the National Estuaries Day festivities at Alley Pond Environmental Center. We also hold club fishing excursions, swap meets, and our BAG Annual Holiday Party, which is held at Donovan's of Bayside.
We also enjoy the friendly competition of tournament fishing. We not only compete within the club; we also compete against other clubs as well. The Bayside Anglers Group Ltd., we are very proud to say, has scored in the top three of all NY fishing clubs in “The Fisherman" New York Surf Fishing Contest in both 1999 almost every year since 1999, where we also placed well in the “most released fish” category. A number of our members have been honored individually for their accomplishments in this contest as well, most notably Steve Piliero's first place win for the past 3 years , Members also enter their best in surf and boat caught categories for club awards given out at our annual awards dinner, which is being held this March 6 th at Gino’s Trattoria of Bayside.
The Bayside Anglers Group is out on the water almost every day. We strive to set an example to promote conservation, sportsmanship, and the camaraderie of fishermen, but mostly we are out there to catch fish and have a good time. If this is the kind of club you might like to be a part of, why not come to one of our monthly meetings (open to the public) and introduce yourself?
