11th Annual Little Neck Bay “Bass Beach” Clean Up.

Thank You to all who Helped us Clean the Beach!

BAG held its 11th Annual Little Neck Bay “Bass Beach” Clean-Up began at 10 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2005.  Through the support of the NYC Dept. of Parks and the NY State Dept. of Environmental Conservation, bags, gloves, rakes and shovels are provided for this event.  We would like to Thank all the volunteers and their families who helped us in the Spring-cleaning of one of our most popular local fishing spots.  This year, NYC Council Member John Liu and his 4 yr. old son Joseph of Flushing signed on to help us clean the beach. Volunteers were well cared for with food and drink provided courtesy of our supporters at R&G Tackle of Port Washington and club member Ira Friedland. The Fisherman Depot of College Point donated a flat of worms for some fishing fun afterwards. To make things interesting, all participants were entered into a free raffle for a Mitchell Spinning Reel and the children had a chance to win 2 trips donated by the half-day open boat THE ANGLER out of Capt. Mikes Marina in Howard Beach.

Bass Beach is accessed by walking to the southern end of the bay along the bicycle path adjacent to the Northbound Cross Island Parkway. Take the Cross Island Parkway to Northern Blvd. West. Go about ½ mile and make a right onto Bell Blvd. Continue North on Bell about 1 mile and make a right onto 35th Ave. Bear left and park at end. Footbridge to the bicycle path is up the hill opposite Crocheron Pond. For further information E-mail Event Chairman Larry Aldrich Jr. or contact our club President Peter Scala Jr. @ 917 797 3872.
